MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Sunday Edition, one of Nashville’s favorite groups, is in the beginning stages of recording a brand new album. Tracking is currently being done for the new project – which will be a piano-only hymns and worship album.
Tracks for the new album, tentatively titled Sunday Worship, are being recorded by Bobby McAllister for Salem Sound in Salem, North Carolina. Sunday Worship is being produced by group members Chris Unthank and Deon Unthank.
Chris Unthank said, “We are continually singing in many different kinds of churches. Some churches want worship music, while others love Southern Gospel. We are hoping to reach a broader audience by providing music that everyone loves – whether its worship music or hymns and Southern Gospel.”
Sunday Worship will feature five hymns and five worship songs in a stripped-down, piano-only setting. The album will also include one full-band recording, “Love Song”, which was written by up and coming songwriter and worship leader Leah Lowrance. The track features the Turning Point Assembly of God worship band and was produced and engineered by Aaron Minick.
“All of these songs were hand-picked by the group,” mentioned Deon Unthank. “These are songs that we love and worship with every week in our own home churches. We can’t wait to start utilizing these songs in our services and concerts.”
Songs included on Sunday Worship are “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)”, “Blessed Assurance”, “Friend of God”, “I Never Shall Forget the Day”, “I Will Follow/Precious Lord”, “Indescribable”, “Love Song”, “Made Me Glad”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “What a Day That Will Be”, and “Who Can Satisfy?”.
Vocals for the new recording will be recorded at Square One Studio in Franklin, Tennessee in September. Sunday Worship has a tentative release date of late October or early November.
Sunday Edition is currently looking for songs for their upcoming mainline release. That new album will begin production in early 2009.
Sunday Edition has seen much success at Southern Gospel radio with their last single – “Naaman”. The song has charted on all the major industry charts. “Naaman”, which was penned by Paula Stefanovich, is the fourth single from Sunday Edition’s critically acclaimed release Absolutely Free. All four singles from the album (“He Keeps Lifting”, “Call On Jesus”, “Big God”, and “Naaman”) have charted on various industry charts. “Naaman” was pushed to radio through DJ Man Promotions, Rhonda Thompson Promotions, and most recently the Rick Hendrix Company.
Sunday Edition’s new single, “Absolutely Free”, is poised to hit radio this month. The song, written by Daryl K. Williams, will be promoted to Southern Gospel radio exclusively through the Rick Hendrix Company.
