A conversation with Homeland Inspiration Group's V.P. Scott Godsey
AGM: Inform the readers concerning the name change that the Homeland label group is experiencing.
SG: After much thought and consideration, Homeland Entertainment Group is restructuring our company to a name that is equivalent to the primary goal of Inspiring people with music. While entertaining people is something that naturally happens when a respectable performance takes place, we feel that Homeland Inspiration Group states our identity even clearer. That is our new positioning statement: Inspiriting Hearts and souls with music from our Homeland, Homeland Entertainment Group.
AGM: We understand that a new location is on the horizon.
SG: Homeland has recently moved into the Family Room Studio in Gallatin, Tennessee. Laverne Tripp and Terry Tripp ministries still occupies and maintains the property, and we are thankful that they have invited Homeland’s operation to share in the facilities. Numerous hit recordings have been produced at Family Room Studios, and Homeland anticipates adding to that list of credits.
AGM: Tell us about the recent national television program that your label has created.
SG: There has been an overwhelming response to Homeland's syndicated Brush Arbor Jubilee television program. It is currently airing on 24 markets every week on many secular broadcast stations. Brush Arbor has Hosted artists such as The Songfellows, Three Bridges, Heirline, Gene McDonald, Clarke Beasley, Scott Godsey, Bill Traylor, Marty Raybon, Freedom, Southern Sound and many more. Check your local listing at brusharborjubliee.com
AGM: What are the future plans of expansion for Brush Arbor Jubilee?
SG: We have been contacted by national networks, and we believe the Lord is opening doors for us to expand the platform for Brush Arbor Jubilee. We have spared no expense producing our show and feel that television will help bring southern gospel to life in the markets we are currently carried on. We have experienced growth in these markets, and as we seek new territories, we hope the trend continues.
AGM: Considering the decrease in gross revenue in the music industry and the struggle to sell product, what do you contribute your success to in the last 2 years?
SG: We give all the praise and honor to our Lord, as He has directed our path and given us the creative abilities to create a hybrid company staffed with the right people. We have not relied on one part of the business to keep our bills paid. Instead of continuing the status quo, we looked for avenues to carry the message further given all the media opportunities in today’s world. We not only produce and manufacture cds, but we promote our Brush Arbor television program, igospelmusic app for smart phones and tablets, digital distribution with 35 online retailers, burn bars at retailers, special events, travel events such as cruises, three publishing companies and a state of the art studio to produce high quality recordings in.
Having said that, it is truly the people in our organization that put in the hours every week and our artists that are willing to try new marketing ideas and go the extra mile for the team.
AGM: What do you feel is the most important aspect in expanding Southern Gospel Music?
SG: I feel we must use the world's media to expose Southern Gospel Music to the unchurched and all potential consumers in areas that are not exposed to Southern Gospel music via radio and or television. We have found when people hear quality Southern Gospel Music, they enjoy it and want more of it. The issue we have had in the past is not reaching people on the fringes and in major markets. TV networks, apps for portable devices, YouTube and social media is where we must focus our attention to maintain and grow our company and Southern Gospel music.
